Bereavement Support

Professional bereavement support with compassion and understanding.

Bereavement

The emotions that arise when we lose someone dear to us are called bereavement. This period, which can endure for months or even years, plunges us into the depths of sorrow and mourning. While it's crucial to openly address the thoughts and emotions that accompany grief, the availability of family and friends for solace and conversation may diminish over time. That's where our complimentary Bereavement Support Service steps in. Designed to assist you through the grieving process, our service offers a compassionate guide on the path toward comprehension and coping with your loss.

Loss

Loss is the feeling we experience when someone close to us dies and we miss their physical presence, love and friendship. Acknowledging and accepting this loss allows us to regain our health and happiness. While the person who died may no longer be here physically, we generally have memories, photos and mementoes of times we shared together. These memories are often very painful at first but as time passes they will become a comfort to us.

Grief

Grieving encompasses the diverse range of emotions we navigate in response to loss. We may experience shock, numbness, disbelief, anger, guilt, frustration, yearning, loneliness, depression, feelings of “why me” or denial. Crying, feelings of extreme sadness and talking about the person who died are the most common ways we grieve. Some people are very frightened of strong, unfamiliar feelings and believe they cannot cope.

A helping hand

Facing a family death can turn into a crisis, overwhelming both the grieving individual and their loved ones. Seeking help from an outsider, someone trained to listen and offer coping strategies can provide much-needed support during such times. Please note: we are not a counselling service, but a support service. Delayed grief reactions are common, and counselling may become necessary in these instances.
